Kullu was once known as Kulanthpitha, which means the end of the habitable world. Beyond rose the forbidding heights of the Greater Himalayas, and by the banks of the shining river Beas, lay the fabled 'Silver Valley'.

Here is the core of an intricate web of numerous valleys - each of which is a visual delight and seems more beautiful than the other. The mountain scapes remain spectacular whether in brilliant sunshine or in the haze of the mist.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit Kullu is between March to June. However adventure enthusiasts might prefer visiting the towns between September to November for trekking, climbing and river rafting while December to February offers a favorable climate for snow-skiing and heli-skiing.

The Great Himalayan National Park - Located in the district of Kullu, it is one of the major national park of Himachal Pradesh.

Bijli Mahadev Temple - Situated at an altitude of 2,438 metres one can reach this temple by a tough but rewarding climb through a 6-km long trek. From the temple site, a panoramic view of Kullu and Parvati valleys is available.

Bajeshwar Mahadev Temple - ( bajaura ) 15 km.This pyramidical temple belonging to the 8th century A.D. is embellished with wonderful carvings in stone and sculpture in the Shikhara style.

Raghunathji Temple - The temple is regarded as the most important holiest place in Kullu. It is dedicated to lord Raghunathji another form of Lord Rama. The temple was built by the king of Kullu Raja Jagat Singh who brought the present idol of the god from Ayodhya(the birth place of Lord Rama) and established here.

Brighu Lake - In district Kullu, Brighu Lake lies east of the Rohtang Pass and is about 6-km from the village of Bulaba.

Akhara Bazaar - Known as one of the main bazaar, where Kullu caps, shawls, 'pattoos', gudmas, 'puhlas' and 'namdas' or rugs are sold in plenty.
